Whirlpool volunteers will blitz-build a home in two weeks WHAT:
Whirlpool Corporation is co-hosting a blitz build with Harbor Habitat for Humanity during the weeks of July 21 and August 11. The build will take place in the new Crystal Estates subdivision in Benton Harbor, Michigan. Whirlpool invites the media to join them for the kick-off event on Monday, July 21 and throughout the build weeks.
Crystal Estates is an entirely new neighborhood of 21 homes on an eight acre site in Benton Charter Township. Currently, there are a total of eight homes in various phases of construction, and Whirlpool employees will work on the ninth home. The subdivision is expected to be finished in 2009 to celebrate Harbor Habitat's 15th Anniversary and 100th home.
Whirlpool donates a range and an ENERGY STAR® qualified refrigerator to every new Habitat for Humanity home built in North America. Not only does Whirlpool donate appliances and provide financial sponsorship of homes, they also provide volunteers from the company to help build homes and enrich lives.
