Now managed by the Green Building Certification Institute (GBCI), LEED Professional Accreditation distinguishes building professionals with the knowledge and skills to successfully steward the LEED certification process. LEED APs demonstrate a thorough understanding of green building practices and principles and the LEED Rating System.

According to the GBCI, a LEED credential provides employers, policymakers and other stakeholders with assurances of an individual's current level of competence and is the mark of the most qualified, educated and influential green building professionals in the marketplace.

Adding to his industry credentials, Heumann earned his Certified Green Professional (CGP) and Certified

Graduate Associate (CGA) designations from the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB) in

2008. This year, he also was recognized with the "Whirlpool Corporation Trade Relations Industry and Community Service Award." The award recognizes Heumann's ongoing leadership, building industry contributions and countless hours of community involvement.

"Richie's dedication and commitment to his customers and to sustainable building as a whole never cease to impress," said Mitchell Isert, North Atlantic contract division director at Whirlpool Corporation. "His sustainable building knowledge and leadership is an asset to Whirlpool Corporation and to his customers' building projects."
