Whiteley has worked in Whirlpool Corporation appliance sales for the building industry for more than 18 years. In his market, he works on numerous sustainable single- and multi-family building projects. Recent projects include the "Zero Energy Home," Gainesville, Fla.; the Sandpearl Hotel and Condominiums, Clearwater Beach, Fla.; Madera community, Gainesville, Fla. and even a major green renovation of his own home. His personal goal is to be known in his market as the "the green appliance rep."
"John's most recent accomplishment reinforces our commitment to being a comprehensive resource for helping builders incorporate more green elements in their home building efforts," said Tracy Frye, senior contract marketing manager at Whirlpool Corporation. "He is a perfect example of Whirlpool Corporation management who are working closely with the building industry to help set pace for sustainable construction."
The CGP curriculum incorporates training by leading building industry practitioners on a range of topics, including strategies for incorporating green building principles into homes using cost-effective methods of construction, and how green homes provide homeowners with lower maintenance and good indoor air quality. Whiteley is required to maintain the designation by completing 12 hours of continuing education every three years, a portion of which pertains to green building activities.
