BENTON HARBOR, Mich., Jan. 31, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- All too often, the garage can become the dumping grounds for household leftovers – holiday decorations, sports equipment, even scrap metal – making the garage more of a makeshift storage unit rather than a productive environment for hobbies, repairs and overall home organization.  Two recent contests hosted by Gladiator® GarageWorks have given garages across the United States new life.

Readers of the Family Handyman magazine had an opportunity to enter the 'Sometimes It's Good to be a Tool' sweepstakes. The contest provided the winner with the ultimate workshop to protect the tools they love. Readers of Motor Trend, Automobile, Hot Rod and Car Craft magazines had a chance to enter an essay contest describing their dream garage to win one of 26 prize packages including the grand prize of Gladiator® GarageWorks product package with an MSRP more than $3,600.

Mark Huseby of the Chicagoland area was the winner of 'Sometimes It's Good to be a Tool' promotion. He quickly found how an organized garage can make a world of difference.

"Having a tool work center makes me eager to get things fixed and I may be doing more preventative maintenance just to have the excuse to use them," said Huseby. "The tool chest moves easily even on my uneven garage floor.  I store it against the wall and can access everything just fine but I also like to roll it out and have it next to whatever I am working on."

Bruce Price of the Detroit area was the winner of the 'Put your Garage in Overdrive' promotion. Contestants described their dream garages and many seem to really struggle with finding room in their garages to work on their beloved classic cars. With his new Gladiator® GarageWorks cabinets, Price found items he hasn't used in 10 years and he's now enjoying quite a bit of extra space.

"I really like that everything on the floor is on wheels. I'm able to move the GearBoxes out of the way and sweep under them," said Price. "The GearTrack® is great because in a few months, I can move a GearBox to another part of the wall if I want to change things up. I don't have to worry about them being permanently secured to one spot."

Across the United States, 27 others won Gladiator® GarageWorks product packages to get their garages and hobbies back on track, starting off 2011 with a cleaner garage slate and floor.

Gladiator® GarageWorks may have found a lifelong ambassador for the brand in Huesby.

"I am still blown away that I won and by the high-quality workmanship on these products," said Huseby.  "Everyone who has seen them is equally impressed with the smooth drawer operation, attention to quality and detail and the handsome exterior and finish."
