BENTON HARBOR, Mich., April 4, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- For a temporary fix, do a makeover, but for a cluttered, disorganized garage, a homeowner needs a takeover. A recent qualitative survey* from Gladiator® GarageWorks uncovered that when dealing with the garage, homeowners suffer from space constraints, disorganization and visual clutter. Consumers clearly saw the benefit of a garage organization system, but did not know where to look for one and how to start the garage reorganization process. Gladiator® GarageWorks is dedicated to eliminating this barrier.

"No one likes to be disorganized. But sadly, disorganization has become the norm in many garages as other rooms take precedence," said Mario D'Ovidio, general manager, Gladiator® GarageWorks. "National Garage Organization Month™ encourages consumers to reprioritize household tasks to include garage cleaning in order to discover the potential value of getting the car back in the garage."

Gladiator® GarageWorks pioneered National Garage Organization Month™ to help homeowners get on the path to organization. Below are a few tips to get started:

  1. Sort through your belongings: Figure out what to keep, throw out or donate. Things you haven't used in over a year should go in the throw out or donate pile.
  2. Identify your storage and organization problem and design a solution: For example, if bikes or storage bins are taking up too much floor space, invest in a bike hook or shelves to get things off the ground. Or, invest in a large cabinet with doors to conceal the hodge-podge of items in the garage. This way, the garage door can stay open all year round.
  3. Invest in quality and durability: Oftentimes, organizational products in the garage are mismatched hand-me-downs from the home (e.g. plastic shelves, wood dresser, old kitchen cabinets, etc.). Pick an organization system built to withstand the harsh environments of the garage. Humidity and extreme temperature changes can wreak havoc.

To help, during the month of April, Gladiator® GarageWorks will offer a 15 percent discount on garage organization product purchases and 10 percent off appliance purchases made online with the promo code NGOM2011.
