The award recognizes achievements that advance market transformation related to energy efficiency, and Whirlpool Canada's ongoing leadership. Whirlpool Canada has received an impressive thirteen ENERGY STAR Recognition Awards, including ten as Manufacturer of the Year, one as Participant of the Year, and two for Sustained Excellence.

In 2015 Whirlpool Canada sold more than a half million units of ENERGY STAR certified appliances led by a comprehensive re-launch of the KitchenAid brand. All KitchenAid brand dishwashers sold by the company were ENERGY STAR certified. Whirlpool Canada was also the Official Appliance and Athlete Laundry Services Supplier of the TORONTO 2015 Pan Am/Parapan Am Games which included installing 200 Maytag brand ENERGY STAR certified washers and dryers in the Athletes' Village.
This past year, with the launch of its HybridCare™ clothes dryer with Heat Pump Technology, Whirlpool also certified it's first ENERGY STAR gas dryers.
