"We are proud to extend our commitment and leadership to sustainability by including these clothes washers and dryers to the list of appliances certified by the AHAM Sustainability Standards," said Maureen Sertich, North America sustainability lead. "With an historical focus on increasing the energy efficiency of Whirlpool Corporation products for more than 46 years, these standards allow us to concentrate on continuous improvements that help reduce the environmental impact of our products at all stages of their life cycle."

Those Whirlpool Brand dryer models among the first to receive certification include:

  • WED8500DW/C -  Whirlpool 8.8 cu. ft. Cabrio® High-Efficiency Electric Steam Dryer (paired with WTW8500DW0, DC0, DR0 - Whirlpool 5.3 cu. ft. Cabrio® High-Efficiency Top Load Washer with Active Spray technology)

The AHAM Sustainability Standards are unique in that they consider a broad range of product attributes during the lifecycle of the product, including energy and water efficiencies, manufacturing, materials, and end of life considerations.
